Calling all Craiglist Addicts! We need you.

Did we ever explain this blog? We started this so we could continue our window shopping on Craigslist without actually having to buy anything. The buying of things on CL was getting out of hand and we realized the finding of things was more important than the owning of things. We just love finding great stuff for good prices, or just great stuff period. It's like voyeurism...we see what people have been hiding in their homes and attics all these years and sometimes it's really something great that we know someone else would love. If you're like us, we could use some more contributing bloggers from other cities (what happened to the San Diego crew???), so send me an email via my contact page describing your CL addiction and we'll get you started.

Re-Nest's Scavenger, another good place for Craigslist Addicts

Re-nest.com has a special area on their website to showcase classified furniture ads submitted by fellow Craigslist Addicts and design lovers in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston and Washington. I love the coffee table in Chicago on this page. Maybe they'll add Portland and San Diego someday, but until then, you can always come here. Here's the page to bookmark to see the most recent Re-nest Scavenger finds.

Ten Reasons You Could be a CL Addict

1. Your spouse thinks you’re crazy and you admit you're crazy.
2. Your friends are addicted too.
3. You recognize someone that you had bought something from CL before (repeat offender).
4. No matter how hard you try your garage continues to be full of stuff you’re selling as you continue to find better stuff on CL.
5. You accidentally tweet a CL listing you’ve been pondering on Twitter.
6. You dream about that item you made arrangements to pick up first thing in the morning.
7. You like to call your house “The House that Craig Built.”
8. You’ve done two or more of the following in the past couple months: found your rental home on CL, sold an entire bedroom suite on CL, made a large CL purchase that you’re afraid to tell your spouse about, or found a new home for a pet.
9. You’ve been mega pissed when someone sold an item right out from under you even when you confirmed you would be there!
10. You’ve started or joined a blog as an outlet to help you with said addiction.

If you or someone you know could answer yes to any of these please feel free to email us to become a contributing writer.

Sincerely,
Fellow CL Addicts

Happiness is Treasure Hunting on Craigslist

This blog is being started by me (Rachel), a Craigslist addict, and my two girlfriends, Kasey and Deanna, also Craigslist addicts.

Since moving into a new rental home and getting very excited about designinig the interior, I started to realize I've been spending way too much time on CL. My husband finally set me up with a feed that searches certain terms and when it comes up under "Furniture For Sale - By Owner" it emails me the listing so that I won't feel compelled to go onto CL every waking minute. The feed has worked great as I've gotten some stinkin' deals recently. I'm almost done furnishing my house. This is very sad for me. :(

I know I'm not the only one afflicted by the menace I like to call CLS (Craigslist Syndrome). My girlfriends Kasey and Deanna have also gone crazy over Danish Modern and retro furniture as all of us have recently moved into new houses and gotten the redecorating bug. We enjoy sharing the comraderie and competition because we understand each other's addiction to finding a great furniture bargain. We also realize our significant others may leave us and file for divorce if we emailed them about each and every posting we liked.

I thought at first of starting up a Craigslist support group on Facebook, as a joke but also not a joke, because it would be a place where others could post about their recent finds, items they are pondering, or woes (if someone got that chair or table before you did...that's happened to me before and it sucks).

Kasey proposed we start a shared blog where we could post cool items we see, giving us an outlet for our CL addictions and an excuse to waste more of our precious time. Ha! Her postings will be from the CL in Portland, OR and mine and Deanna's will be from San Diego, CA.

This explains the birth of our blog. We will post anything cool, fresh, modern, retro, antique, or unique on CL as well as any artsy goings-on in our communities. We hope you all enjoy it, especially if you live in either locales and have been hit by the Danish Modern Retro bug too! Perhaps you will benefit from this blog as much as we will.
